FAQ
  • I am seeking the services of a Painter/Decorator. How much experience do you have? How long have you been doing this trade?

The Proprietor, Mel smith, has over 25 years experience (since 1982) as a painter/Decorator. He is also skilled in associated crafts such as Glazing, staining & Varnishing, Carpentry (trained to NVQ level 2, and Bricklaying) and has wide experience of Domestic and Commercial environments. Most employees of Paintcraft have NVQ level 1 & 2 or City & Guilds, and in most cases have a minimum of 6-8 years experience.

  • Do you have any references that I can follow up?

References are available on request.

  • Do you do decorative effects, or associated craft’s such as Paperhanging? Plastering? Glazing? Carpentry?

Yes, our team consists of specialists in each of these fields. We also carry out kitchen and bathroom refits, wood floor installation, wood floor sanding.

  • Do you work on your own, or do you have a team?

Paintcraft consists of a small friendly team. We have the organizational capability to carry out work to a bathroom or mansion, and to a high specification.

  • I live on the outer edge of London, are you willing to come to this part of town?

We typically work within the M25 area of London, but often will go beyond.

  • Have you done any work in this part of town that I may be able to view?

We routinely do work in some of the main postcodes of London.

  • Are you a member of any Trade Association / Professional Bodies?

Paintcraft is a member of the Painting & Decorating Association, The Dulux Decorators Network, and the TRUSTMARK Scheme.

  • We are thinking of using wallpaper such as Designers Guild or Osborne & Little. Have you hung this wallcovering before?

Wallcoverings from most of the main manufacturers have been hung over the years. For other delicate wallcoverings we have access to specialist paperhangers.

  • We want to use a particular type of paint in the bathroom, is that a good idea?

Advice can be given on types of paint to be used, and where best suited.

  • Will this shade of blue clash with my cream carpet in the living room?

Practical advice on colour is available.

  • Is your price inclusive of materials? Are there any hidden charges? Vat etc.

Where extras or variations to the main price arise, these will be agreed upon. The main price will be inclusive of materials. VAT is charged on top of the main price.

  • We need the house to be secured each day. Are you willing to take responsibility for this?

Many years of experience working in a domestic environment has given us the knowledge and confidence in this.

  • Will you protect any items of furniture or carpeting while you are working?

Carpets and furniture are protected using clean cotton cloth sheets and/or pvc wrapped. Where specified, extra care is taken with sensitive items and we recommend that the customer remove or protect delicate items of property.

  • Do you carry Insurance?

We carry full Public Liability Insurance and this can be viewed on request.

  • What if I am not happy with the work when it is completed?

We aim to maintain customer satisfaction throughout the work and have a very high satisfaction rate. Where a customer is not happy with the work, we aim to put it right as soon as possible. In rare cases, where a matter cannot be resolved the customer has recourse to the Trade Associations of which Paint craft is a member.
